Envy is HP’s upscale but not luxurious brand, positioned above its Pavilion PCs but below its Spectre models, as you are probably aware. The new HP Envy 13 replaces the much-missed Spectre 13 ultraportable; while it has a touch screen, it is a clamshell laptop without the x360 suffix of HP 2-in-1 convertibles. It starts at $749.99; $1,199.99 as tested. Additionally, it’s one of the finest values in the 13.3-inch class, costing $350 less than a similarly equipped Dell XPS 13 and $400 less than a similarly equipped Razer Blade Stealth. The Envy should be considered an Editors’ Choice with those ultraportables despite its flaws.
